I noticed that this episode is an "upcoming airing" in the USA and as I watched it last night (on tv) I'd like to make some comments. First of all: in my opinion, it's a really, really good episode and Hotch has a key role. that's perhaps why I liked it so much??? ;o) the scene in the hospital, when Hotch and Prentiss talk with the lady injured in the fire, is so sad... Hotch decides to lie to her because thinks that it would be really cruel to make her suffer more by telling the truth. what a sensitive man! Prentiss instead is still a bit cold. Hotch is deeply involved in the case because of Abby's situation: his illness and his efforts to make always "the best thing" for his child. in the brief dialogue with Gideon, Hotch reveals his problems, fears and insecurity being an FBI Agent, a husband and a father. this is a reason why I think he's a great character: not only when he shows some "coldness" doing his work, but also (and perhaps above all) in these scenes when he shows to be "vulnerable". other great scenes at the end, when he tries to save Abby and when he speaks with his child (and he says simply: "my name is Aaron", in that moment he's not an FBI Agent but only a man, I'd say, with a golden heart)
a really intense episode!!!

Yeah, making it a Hotch episode is a pretty good reason to love it, isn't it? And, anytime Hotch and Gideon are having a conversation together is gold for me. But, there's an added bit of specialness when Hotch is the one who needs support from Gideon instead of the other way around. And, the speech about being "as good as I can, as fast as I can" says just how important his family is to him.
I also love how Hotch's whole attitude towards Abby changes through the episode. He doesn't like Abby at first and he suspects him. He even takes just a little too much satisfaction in shoving those pictures of burn victims in his face. (that's something else I love about Hotch. If he was perfect, he'd be boring. But, he's got that slightly -and sometimes not slightly- vindictive streak in him along with his other great qualities) But, you can see how he gets to the point where his mind changes about Abby so much that he's literally willing to walk through fire for him. Which he can't. I also love that Hotch still tells the other cop to keep tabs on Abby, even after he starts to respect him.
Something I always wonder is what Hotch would say if he got a call from Liam Abby, asking about his dad.

Last night I watched these two episodes on tv and I enjoyed them very much! the plot is really exciting but, as always, I appreciated the behaviour of the characters as well. 1)Reid has of course the most important role: I think he is brave when he tries to speak to Raphael/Tobias even if he's suffering from torture. 2)we see how JJ is emotionally involved in the case (maybe also because of Reid): she regret having let Spencer alone (sooo sweet!) 3)as the team notices, Prentiss seems to feel no particular emotions about the victims and the whole situation...I actually think this is impossible, so she is clearly trying to control her feelings. I don't understand why: I think her character would be nicer if she wouldn't do so... :/ 4)I really liked the scene when Reid "nominate" Hotch to be the next victim (panic!!!): and I enjoyed the moment when Hotch tries to list the lack/defects (?) of his character! ;) 5)finally when Reid hugs Hotch at the end of the second episode...really moving!!!! :,,,,/
I'd say these are two of my favourite episodes!!! :D

Oh, yeah, Reid is super brave. It's sometimes easy to be fooled by the youth and skinniness and general "innocent" air, but the guy is gutsy. Big time.
Prentiss really hasn't been there long enough for it to start to get to her. But, I see little cracks in her composure. Also, growing up in a political household may have taught her to keep her emotions in check. Season 3 will show more cracks and her being more visibly emotional.

I just watched this episode online (in English) and I must say that I didn't remeber it was so good! maybe because when I watched it on tv the first time I wasn't so a big CM- and Hotch-fan yet ... ;o) The last scene, when Hotch interrogates Vincent, is really intense: the first time I saw the episode I didn't notice the implied details of Aaron's past life... now I think the reference is pretty clear...and so sad... :,( probably this is the first episode (after LDSK of course) in which Hotch is even more deeply involved in the case because of the similarity of his past life. I think he is very brave when he decides to interrogate Vincent alone: it means to face his past somehow... and, of course, the scene where he's going to be strangled scared me!! :s
another excellent episode I was glad to rewatch!

This is one of my favorite epis. and the strangle scene scared me too; every time i watch it i get a knot in my stomach - when Morgan says he has a head shot and can take him out, even though Aaron is in awful danger, he shakes his head - we need him alive! Such courage! But then he is lovely! (writing this has knotted my tummy! Me and my sis call it my TommyTummy!!! LOL Aggie xx
