Just watched it yesterday on ION for the fourth or fifth time.. I found the whole setup with Lucas and Mason to be very improbable. First of all you have Lucas carrying out rather sophisticated crimes, although at least in the scenes with him, he seems too retarded to pull that off - not so much in terms of cognitive skills (there are plenty of dumb criminals), but in terms of behavior and speech. Unless his "retarded behavior" is some kind of "triggered regression", similar in part to the unsub in "Uncanny Valley" - but that seems a stretch.

Then there's the whole thing about Mason's "experiments" - which someone somewhere suggested was just a ruse of sorts to get Lucas to kill people. It's improbable to the point of disbelief that Lucas could have carried out anything that would be anywhere close to a "potential treatment" for SCI - the simplest thing I can think of would either be blood harvesting or extraction of the spleen and implantation into the cord, or injection somewhere close to the cord. Both require more than a small modicum of skill - either in how to drain blood, find a human spleen, or implant somewhere.

The biggest hole was the question of "how did Mason have a technologically sophisiticated setup" involving a breathing pump, the mirrors, his computer, etc, etc. set up for him?

But suspending that bit of disbelief, good episode.

This ep was good all around, and honestly, it’s nice to rave about an ep this much!!! And the TITLE was perfect, too, because all through the ep kept us guessing about who the unsub really was!!! PERFECTION!!! I miss having eps that fit together like this, and work so well that I’m over the moon about them!!! The last one was ep Painless, and that one aired right before this one!!! You think if they’re reading these posts that they did that just for me??? Naw! XD I was teasing that since I say they read these posts and air bad S6 eps to spite me, that since they aired my s7 fav, then rocked it out with an AWESOME new ep, they did that on purpose too! XD This AWESOME ep was for ALL of us fans- SO GOOD, we can ALMOST forgive them for Season 6!!! XDD (Almost???)

DC, your enthusiasm is contagious :). Painless was also my favorite ep this season, with this one coming in second and Proof a close third. I agree with everything you said here about how everything was so uncertain and then fit together perfectly. I also loved when Regina answered the phone and then said, "Can I call you back?" so calmly. I guess if someone is ready to face his or her monsters and demons, he or she could have that sort of calmness about him or her, but it was chilling nonetheless, as was Em pretending to like the unsub's behavior. But, like you said, it worked in Outfoxed and I guess it worked here, too, but it was creepy anyway.

Nothing about this episode was what I expected, which was awesome. We watch a lot of crime dramas and sometimes it feels like we always know what's going to happen so it was nice to be surprised and thrown off by the story line.

But now we have to wait until 2/8 for a new episode :(.

You know how in the senate hearings in this ep, it was stated that "two agents" had died??? Those two agents were FBI agents, not BAU members!!! XD The jet crashing doesn't have to be the end of the end of the end, because the agents that die don't have to be any of the BAU that we just got back altogether. It's so much more fun to write if they all live!!! (Personal confession!!! XD)

Also, Gideon, in all his years, would have to know alot of people! :-) If Mr.Patinkin were up to it, the person Gideon came back to funeralize could be the person who supported him the most after his whole first team died in the bomb. Or maybe some agent who was very close to his son! I didn't see one of our "Very own" dying the crash, but there is still SOOOOOOOO much I have done with what happens, and how they all deal with it!!! To see it in an actually ep???? WOOOOWWWWWW!!!!! XXXDDD

For me JJ as profiler doesn't work. This has detracted from the diversity which came from having her and Garcia as integral parts of the team but with different roles. After all there are seven members of the team and five were already profilers. All I see is JJ speaking lines that other members of the team could say instead of bringing a different perspective as media liaison.
This was one of the reasons Seaver didn't work - too much of the same thing and not enough meaningful dialogue to share among six profilers in the space of 45 minutes or so.

Where I live, we do have 13 steppers. That's what we call people who attend meetings just to meet sexual partners. In most cases two people with minimal sobriety will relapse together

"I felt so bad for Garcia in this episode but I was amazed yet again at the backbone she has. WOW. I felt sickened by this unsub more than I have others for some reason. Is it bad to say I'm glad that mom shot the guy. I hope she doesn't go to jail for it? Great episode again."

dragonfirereidgirl, I agree that this episode showed us Garcia's "backbone". So often, she is just a silly addition, but, from time to time, we see her as a complex and interesting character. In those episodes, I find that I really like Penelope; other times, I just find her annoying.
