Synopsis:
SSA Gideon has been on medical leave since a traumatic incident six months ago. But when a fourth woman goes missing in Seattle -- after three have disappeared for a week and then turned up, strangled -- the FBI's Behavioral Analysis unit decide they want him back. Gideon and the BAU have a very short amount of time to find the latest victim before she dies.

Best Moments Between Characters:
  • The final scene on the plane. Hotch goes up to Gideon and they chat about baby names for Hotch's unborn child. When he gets up to leave, Gideon asks him how his report is going and Hotch looks surprised. Gideon says "You can't fool an old profiler.". They both chuckle and Hotch tells him he saved that woman's life, that's all that matters.
  • The scene where Reid is talking to Hotch and Reid asks if Hotch knows why Gideon always introduces him as "Doctor Reid", and Hotch tells him it's because Gideon knows that people see Reid as a kid, and he wants people to respect him, showing that Gideon cares about Reid.

Best Lines
  • Hotch: This is Special Agent Dr. Reid.
    Woodland: Oh, you look too young to have gone to medical school.
    Reid:They are Ph.D's, three of them.
    Woodland: What, are you a genius or something?
    Reid: I don't believe that intelligence can be accurately quantified, but I do have an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, can read 20,000 words per minute. (pause) Yes, I'm a genius.

  • Morgan: (To Garcia) "I thought I was calling the office of Supreme Genius."
    Garcia: "Well gorgeous, you've been rerouted to the office of the too frickin' bad."

  • Hotch: "This is Special Agent Gideon, Special Agent Morgan our expert obsessional crime, Special Agent Reid"
    Gideon: (clarifying) "Doctor Reid"
    Hotch: "Dr. Reid our expert on, well, everything and after two years busting my butt in this office, I hope you remember me."

  • Reid: (about Gideon) "Do you know why he always introduces me as "Doctor" Reid?"
    Hotchner: "Because he knows that people see you as a kid and he wants to make sure they respect you."

  • Morgan: "Reid, are you good with this? We've got a woman who's only got a few hours left to live, an incomplete profile and a Unit Chief on the verge of a nervous breakdown."
    Gideon: "They don't call them nervous breakdowns anymore."
    Morgan: " I know!"
  • Timothy Vogel: "You think I'm stupid?"
    Gideon: "I think you're an absolute moron. I know all about you, Tim. You're at the gym five times a week. You drive a flashy car, you stink of cologne, and you can't get it up. Not even Viagra's working for you. You know what that tells me? That tells me you are hopelessly compensating, and it's not just in your head. It is physical. What did the girls call you in high school? What'd they come up with when you fumbled your way into some girl's pants, and she started laughing when she got a good look at just how little you had to offer?"
  • (discussing naming their son)
    Hotch: "Let's call him ... Sergio."
    Haley: "Please tell me you're kidding."

  • Gideon: "Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
    Reid    : "Samuel Beckett."
    Morgan: "Try not. Do or do not."
    Reid: "Yoda."

The turning point in the investigation:
After the first unsub, Richard taunts Gideon about his past in Boston, Gideon leaves and goes outside. Hotch follows and they talk and Hotch comments how Gideon can be two people. Gideon then realizes that there are two unsubs.

Whodunit?
The first unsub is Richard Slessman, a young man whose mother died when he was 13 and now he's living with his grandmother. The second unsub is Timothy Vogel, a guard who protected him when he was in prison and used Richard to help him kill the women. Tim was a handsome guy, worked out faithfully, drove a hot car, but turned out he had a "tiny tim" to offer the ladies during sex so this was his way of paying them back for being cruel to him.
