Machismo

Synopsis:
The BAU travels to Mexico to aid in the capture of a serial killer who has targeted elderly women.
Set in:
Allende del Sol, Mexico
Best Moments Between Characters:
  • Hotch and his sister-in-law at the beginning, when she tells him he's holding his crying son like a cantaloupe. Hotch hands the baby to her and he stops crying immediately, so he tells her to profile a disorganized psychopath.

Best Lines:
  • Haley Hotchner: (hands the phone to Hotch) "It's your wife."
(Hotch takes the phone and it's Gideon)

  • Morgan: "Nothing like jet sleep, right?"
  • Elle: "Yeah, kinda like a night of drinking without the drinking."

  • Haley Hotchner: "It's okay. Go. They need you. It's all right. I'm not mad." (walks away).
Hotchner: (to his sister-in-law, Jessica) "You heard her. She said it was all right."
Jessica: "You’re one hell of a profiler."

  • Gideon: In my experience, evil is not a cultural phenomenon - it's a human one.

The turning point in the investigation:
When the team realizes that 4 of the victims all worked in the same factory. They are able to pinpoint that it is one of the males who works in the same factory, one who always needs to please and ask how he's done; as he did with the rape victims. Later while analyzing the boards they realize that the maiden names of the rape victims is the same as the last names of the murder victims; that the unsub is killing the mothers of the women he raped.

Whodunit?

Afterwards, he attempted to rape other women, but because his last rape victim ridiculed him, he became impotent. He began visiting his rape victims' mother's homes and would sexually assult the elderly women with a knife, thus killing them. began

Doesn't Paget Brewster appear in this episode in a pre-Emily Prentiss role?

In the first scene in Mexico, one of the Mexicans says to Gideon that he though Gideon was taller, and Gideon says, "but that was on stage." Is this breaking the forth wall and referring to Patinkin's stage career? Or is there an in-universe explanation for that?

I am proud to say I am mexican and as such speak fluent Spanish... i find it funny how stiff and formal the Spanish used in this episode is, there's no contractions or anything that would make it sound less stiff and you can tell that many of the actors cast for their Mexican appearance obviously don't actually speak Spanish fluently because they have an English ( as in people who speak English trying to speak Spanish not as someone from England) accent and can be heard to struggle with the native rhythm of the language. On another note I love how Reid looks in this episode the slicked back hair is awesome and its cute how he tries to say things in spanish.
