Identity


Synopsis:
When one half of a killing duo in blows himself up when caught by authorities, the team must rush to identify and apprehend his partner. They have to overcome great reservations from the local militia, which does not want their help.

Set in:
Great Falls, MT
Best Moments Between Characters:
  • When the fourth missing woman's husband turns to Hotch and asks him what he would do. Hotch describes to the husband how the man feels and the fact that he continuously relives the last moments that he spent with his wife.

Best Lines:
  • Prentiss (to Reid): You know, I could have gotten you a coloring book at the airport.
    Reid: I'm creating a topographical map, weighing down and geocoding all key locations, looking for algorithms.
    Prentiss: Yeah, that's exactly what I thought you were doing.
  • Militia Man: (pointing to a no soliciting sign) " What the hell do you want? Can't you read?"
    Reid: "I'm not a salesman, I'm with the FBI."
    Militia Man: "FBI? You're not serious? You look like a pipe cleaner with eyes. I could snap you like a twig."
    Rossi (stepping into view): "But then, he isn't alone."
  • Militia Man (to Reid): "Piece of advice, pipe cleaner--the way you wear that gun, you're begging someone to take it off you."

  • JJ: "We're investigating a missing woman--"
    Bar Owner: "Bobby, be a gentleman. Pull up a chair for the little lady."
    JJ: "No, I'd prefer to stand."
    Bar Owner: "I'd prefer it if you both left my bar."

The Turning Point in the Investigation:
While watching the tapes of the torture of three of the victims, Reid and Prentiss realize that the partner was the one who planted the rose bushes where the victims had been buried. They use this information to visit nursery's to find the identity of the partner.


Whodunit?
Francis Goehring and Henry Frost. The four victims abducted resembled a younger version of Francis' wife, who, with the Militia's help, threw him out for abusing her. Francis was responsible for torturing three of the victims, but Henry, who was fond of Francis, did his bidding. He videotaped the torture of the victims and drove Francis to the places where they abducted them. When Francis blew himself up, Henry took on Francis' identity as he no longer had his own. Henry was abused by his father and in and out of trouble with the law.

Trivia
Serial killers Leonard Lake, aka Leonard Hill, and Charles Ng, were the basis for this episode.

The show was GREAT...UNTIL you had Garcia shot by her new fella. I am absolutely sick to death of shows portraying sexy, beautiful, sassy or whatever, overweight women as only able to attract sicko's like what happened tonight. You could have made it another character who shot her on her date or anything else. Shame on you. Shame. You just continue the myth that women who are chunky aren't attractive to attractive men. You have royally pissed me off.

I think tonight went much smoother and the team complimented each other better. Rossi didn't do his own thing and he and Hotch bounced the unsubs history off each other and it was really interesting to watch. I see there being some issues with him and Morgan and you can see the distrust is still there, but I look forward to it working itself out thru each new episode! :)
