In Heat

Synopsis:
The BAU team profiles a serial killer whose sexual identity plays a key role in his choice of victims. During the trip JJ meets up with a former colleague who turns out to be more than a friend.

Set in:
Miami, FL
Best Moments Between Characters:
  • When Prentiss kept trying to push JJ "towards" LaMontagne.
  • When Prentiss, Morgan and Reid let out that they've known all along about JJ and LaMontagne's relationship.

Best Lines:
  • Garcia: "One charge of lewd behavior, which I am assuming means gay in Texas."
  • Det. Tina Lopez: "I'm gonna take the skinny kid and Derek to the dump sites, so I got my cell, radio. If anyone doesn't give you anything, just call me."
    Prentiss: "Great."
Rossi: "She did say she wasn't good with names."
  • Prentiss: (about the latest victim) "Asphyxiated?"
Tina Lopez: "Why mess with a good thing? It's clearly working for him."
  • (watching JJ and Will kiss)
    Morgan: "Well, finally."
Prentiss: "Mmm... thought she was never gonna admit it."
Reid: "What's it been, like, a year?"
    Morgan: "Something like that."
  • Garcia: "Sorry I'm late"
Hotch: "Everyone's allowed to be late... Once."
  • Reid: "Is it always this hot?"
    [three girls walk by]
    Morgan: "Every day, all day."
    Rossi: "That's South Beach."
Reid: "That's not what I was talking about."
    Hotch: "They know."

The turning point in the investigation:
When Hotch and Rossi interviewed one of the missing victim's father. They realized as the father described his son, Stephen, that Stephen fit the profile.

Whodunit?
Stephen Fitzgerald. He was a young man who was confused about his sexual orientation. His father was a prison guard and felt two men being together was disgusting. He abused his son with his own sick beliefs. Stephen took on the identities of the men he killed to run away from who he really was.

Has anyone seen the well, extreme presence of hate-messages on the CBS message board for this episode?

Some because of it's "negative portrayal of Christians." Which apparently the show has been doing for some time now....

Some because of the "gay theme" of the episode.

Do you believe this is justified? Agree? Disagree?

I really enjoyed this last episode; "In Heat". Not only because of the flirting going on but they showed more personality as a team as well as individuals. I loved the ending when they all revealed their knowledge of JJ's affair. To me, that would be a more realistic team that work together and work on such horrific crimes. They can't always be all work and no play. Even Rossi lightened up.
