A Shade of Gray

Synopsis:
When profiling a series of child abductions and murders, the team discovers that one of the cases may not be the handiwork of the serial killer they apprehended.

Set in:
Cherry Hill, NJ
Best Moments Between Characters:

  • Reid and Hotch using their profiling skills to cross out half the names off the sex offenders list in less than two minutes.
  • JJ tapping on the one way mirror instantly letting Dave know how to proceed with the interrogation of the suspect.
  • Emily talking with the surviving son in the police station and being completely chilled by his cold and violent responses.

Best Lines:

  • Garcia: Tell me things, Sunshine.
  • JJ: Garcia, I need your brain and your computer system.
  • Garcia: They are one in the same.

The turning point in the investigation:
When the BAU found Kyle's body, they discovered it wasn't "tossed like garbage" as in the other 2 cases. They knew Kyle's body had been placed with care by someone who loved him. They began to look at the family and the lead investigator for answers.

Whodunit?
Danny Murphy. He is a young sociopath who is incapable of remorse. He knowingly killed his younger brother, Kyle. He didn't like to share anything with his brother and felt nothing but anger and hatred towards his brother. While his parents tried to protect him, they were unaware of the full extent of Danny's mental illness.

I don't know if anyone else here is a fan of Buffy or Angel (the shows, not necessarily the characters) but the music playing towards the end of this episode, and possibly in another episode, strongly reminded me of the scores in Angel, perhaps some in Buffy, but it had a very strong "Angel" feel to it, I've been looking into it, but if anyone has any knowledge of some sort of connection between the two, music-wise at least, there are already a few parallels in the cast *cough* Nicolas Brendon *cough) please reply if you can help me nail this down, it'll bug me like crazy if I don't know.
