| The Turning Point in the Investigation |
- When Morgan notices that for the first two victims that the Unsub had deliberately cut the power. This leads them to profile that part of his signature is ‘hunting in the dark’ which Garcia uses to find similar crimes all across the state
- On investigating the first murders in the crimes that Garcia has flagged, the team makes the startling discovery that Officer Spicer was one of the first witnesses to the Unsubs crimes

 |
Who dunnit and why?
- Garcia discovers that the Unsub has been carrying out these crimes for 26 years in all 48 states
- The Unsub has been dubbed by the press as the Prince of Darkness. He appears to terrorize and kill random victims with no regard for race, age or gender which marks him as an ‘opportunistic offender’ who according to Reid will be extremely difficult to catch. Prentiss theorises that his diverse choice of victims was to instill as much fear as he could in the entire city.
- The Unsub uses the black outs to rob and kill but leaves a witness behind. He had returned to LA because he wanted everyone to know that he was part of the reason Spicer was the city's hero
- We don’t learn his identity or why he had been doing the home invasions, rapes, etc. for 26 years but in the end, he killed Spicer and kidnapped his daughter, leaving Morgan tied up on the floor and Spicer's sister, Kristen, tied up on the bed. To be continued....
