- He studied magic tricks as a kid, performing at Bar Mitzvahs but gave it up when he hit puberty and 'went through this really awkward phase'
- He auditioned for the role of Spencer Reid three times and got the part after the fourth audition
- He won't wear matching socks because he believes it is bad luck which he gets from his grandparents. The one time he wore matching socks in ten years was for the movie The Life Aquatic, where he managed to sprain his ankle on camera and this scene actually wound up being in the movie
- The dark circles around his eyes are natural and he has an aversion to having makeup applied to hide this Dark Eye Syndrome
- He has co-founded a faux boygroup along with some friends named Boyztown (their debut performance has been described as "homo-erotic" and "hilarious")

Other Acting Roles and Projects:
Matthew Gray Gubler first made his mark in the acting world with a small part in Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," as Intern #1 (also known as Nico). While he worked in the film, Gubler also shot a behind-the-scenes documentary called "Matthew Gray Gubler's Life Aquatic Intern Journal." His other directorial efforts include "The Cactus that Looked Just Like a Man", "Tippi's Picnic" and "Claude: A Symphony of Horror." Matthew directed his own short mockumentaries where he parodies Hollywood behavior. It is called "Matthew Gray Gubler The Unauthorized Documentary." Matthew is also in the Tom Hanks film "The Great Buck Howard". He also had a role in the film "R.V.," as "Joe Joe". Matthew also voiced Simon the Chipmunk in 2007's "Alvin and the Chipmunks" film. Matthew starred in "How to be a Serial Killer" as Bart. Matthew was also in the hit musical-comedy, "500 Days of Summer" as "Paul" and voiced Simon again in "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip- Wrecked".
Matthew has walked the catwalk for fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs, Burberry and Louis Vuitton. In November of 2007, Matthew finished editing/directing a music video he directed for "The Killers" and it can be downloaded from iTunes. The song is called "Don't Shoot Me Santa". You can also purchase it from your local music store. All of the proceeds from online iTunes sales go towards fighting AIDS and Malaria. He has also directed the music video for Whirlwind Heat's song "Reagan," in which his younger brother pretends to be a fourth band member and smashes things in the background.

- He will be revisiting the voice role of "Simon" in 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel'.

- He is starring as Father Patrick in the horror film The Wicked Within coming out in 2012.
- Matthew is starring in the horror movie Excision as Mr. Claybaugh coming out in 2012.

Okay, I saw Matthew Gray Gubler at UNH around April, and let me tell you, he is the funniest, sweetest guy in the WORLD, he told sooo many good stories, so if you have any questions about the lecture, ask me! And i have my videos being uploaded on my Profile page:))

Like, Matthew wasn't even heard of untill at least Season 6 of Criminal Minds, and now he is starring in EVERYTHING! He is so famous now! And so is the show! It's like we discovered him, well, we as in the ones who have been watching since season 1.
