Great episode. Granted, this didn't really have a big case thing, like The Fisher King or anything like that, but it was a good team episode. We got to see more about, not just Reid, but the whole team and their relationships with each other. Definitely some really deep moments (mostly those were the ones w/ Reid and his parents...but their was the scene w/ Rossi and Reid when Reid had was having flashbacks w/ the hypnotist. he's getting a little better, maybe because he's not interfearing too much, but being there for the team. also liked how the rest of the team was there for Reid..again! :), but also really cute moments, and i will share some of my favorites: ok, just have to point out how Rossi and Morgan were watching "The Young and the Restless" did anyone else get that?! i thought it was funny. and must say, i also like Reid's mom more and more. little witty coments just make my day "why mess with perfection?" :) and Garcia convincing JJ she had to go to the hospital, and also at the hospital....AAAAAWWWWWWW!!!! so cute!!! :D Reid and Garcia are the godparents, and i like how Reid and JJ seem to be bffs. they all seem to have those moments :)and, i like how Reid's dad wasn't the murderer. he does care, maybe too much, maybe like Reid. idk, it was almost like it was necessary, but it was good. well, won't take up any more time...wow, i said a lot...sorry bout the novel!!! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. As far as I know, unless someone posts it on YouTube, it's not online. It was a very good episode and JJ gave birth!

Okay, good that they didn't make his dad either a child molester or a killer (even a revenge killer). But, you know, William Reid is still a louse who left his son and mentally ill wife. And, living in the same city all that time just makes it worse if he never contacted Reid. Seemed a little too happily family wrap things up in a neat bow at the end. As far as the case, they really seemed to skimp on things. Was there any proof that the murdered guy actually did kill Riley? Riley's dad thought so, based on what Diana Reid said, but was there anything else? Glad Morgan did call Reid on his need to just get his dad for anything (although I can understand the sentiment). Although, since they started to dig into it, they shouldn't have let it go just in case William Reid was the killer (of the pedophile). Personal motive or not, he would have deserved to be convicted of the crime.Either Prentiss partied hard the night before, or she's not much of a drinker. I think she was going to pull her gun out at the next person to touch one of the slot machines. Cute scene with Garcia getting JJ up and ready to go to the hospital. "Young JJ is going into labor!" Hotch: "I'll get the car." Garcia being the godmother, absolutely. Not sure I would have pegged them to pick Reid as Henry's godfather. And, Morgan and Garcia flirting for those who missed it. "I give good phone." And, completely hilarious "WTH?!" look from Hotch right after. Not as good as The Instincts. Loads better than either Paradise or Catching Out. Not sure it's going to make my list of favorites. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Do the articles clear up or confuse the timeline of Reid joining the BAU? According to the article, he was 22 when he was assigned. Also, right from the article it's clear that the show does use dramatic license and not always follow real life procedures, since he joined without any other experience in law enforcement. Other article has one of his doctorates in Mathematics, and one was an article on the case in Derailed.

I know I'm going to get the wet noodle award, but I never paid too much attention to Reid. Its not that I dislike him , I just think some of his earlier storylines were like wallpaper paste in their delivery. But, having said that, I really enjoyed the opportunity in seeing him for the first time take a new direction. I missed last weeks episode so I didn't see the conflict until tonight's episode. He seemed to be more independent in his pursuit of justice for the boy. as well as his own demons. I wasn't surprised with the Godfather job, I remember a few scenes where she was having Reid feel the baby kicking. it was almost as if she wanted to include him in the experience and she also seems to connect with him in a sisterly kinds of way. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Have to go doublecheck that other thread. I really loved the articles - a plethora of canon facts about Reid! (And nice nods to Elle and Gideon! Glad they aren't choosing to completely ignore their existence). The first article also hinted at him heading towards Chemistry or Engineering as his 2nd PhD, and his dissertation at the end was with the faculty of Engineering, so I guess we've got decent confirmation on what those three PhD's were in (still not sure why he went for Engineering - when has he *ever* really used that background?). I kept re-reading the "FBI 'Crucial' in Finding Madison Child Killer" article, trying to remember the case, until I realised it wasn't in the show. But I really did love the articles. I liked this episode, even if it had too many 'Reid-being-wrong-and-also-sort-of-a-jerk-about-it' moments for me to comfortably watch (I can't stand to watch characters make idiots of themselves. Weird personal flaw of mine). I think I prefer 'The Instinct's better, but certainly beat 'Catching Out' IMO.I agree, Bessie_Mae, the ending seemed too 'happy family' for me. Whatever he might say now, William Reid still abandonned his 10yrold son to a mentally ill mother, and from all accounts never gave them so much as child support (I assume they would've mentioned something about that when discussing his financial records, etc). And only living 10minutes away but "not knowing how to start again"? I didn't think that was much of an excuse at all for his behaviour. I loved the little team moments again (jeez, Prentiss is a grouchy, hungover thing, istn't she? lol). Garcia's "I give great 'phone'" comment and Hotch's alarmed look was hilarious!! Canonical proof that Reid can manipulate the casinos is awesome! The fact that he so boredly won and gave away $2000 suggests he's definitely done that before. And 'awww' for baby Henry. I love Reid and Garcia as the godparents. There hasn't been much support for the Reid/JJ friendship in past seasons, but I'm incredibly glad they're attempting to rectify that in recent episodes. Reid's little "Yale was your godfather's fallback school" and "I can get you into Cal Tech with one phonecall" comments were so cute! I can see him taking the godfather role very seriously. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Do the articles clear up or confuse the timeline of Reid joining the BAU? According to the article, he was 22 when he was assigned."Okay, just went to the other thread. I think this *may* be support for the 'Tabula Rasa' timeline. Assuming Reid's birthday is late in the year, he could've been 22 for most of 2004, which would make him new to the team in 'Tabula Rasa'. I think. My math might be screwed up. But the article also indicates a very secure, together Gideon (who has obviously not had his 'Boston' yet), so this may throw another wrench in the works - I doubt 'Tabula Rasa' happened immediately after Boston (unless all characterisation/continuity in that respect is to be thrown out the window) and because of this, a fair bit of time would've had to have passed between the article and 'Tabula Rasa', so it doesn't make much sense that Reid's first case would be the 'Tabula Rasa' one (which I inferred to be implied by that episode). I should stop talking now. I'm rambling and getting really off-topic lol. Do you find this valuable? |

One more thing (last one of the night, I promise) - should JJ really have been flying on planes so close to her due date? She said she was only three weeks away. I have no personal experience/expertise in that area, but I thought there were rules about flying in the third trimester?

Yes, the financial support (or lack of) bothered me a lot with William Reid, too. He couldn't hack it, so he lets his son try to support himself and his mom? Not feeling the warm fuzzies for Daddy Reid.I looked up a pregnancy website. It says flying in the third trimester is safe if the due date isn't too close. They say up to 35/36 weeks into the pregnancy. How's that add up to JJ being 3 weeks due? Too much math to figure out. Do you find this valuable? |

This might be a double post. I looked up pregnancy and flying and they say you can fly up to 35/36 weeks into the pregnancy. JJ was three weeks away from her delivery date. How does that add up to where she'd be in the 35/36 range?

So where did Reid actually go to college? I know that Garcia went to Cal Tech, but did Reid go there as well? Have they ever said where he went to college?I've always been a lover of Reid and I enjoy Reid-Centric episodes, so him holding the baby and talking about Yale being a safety school of course made me love him all the more. But why is he not cutting his hair again! I like it just past his ears, not too long, not too short! Curses! I'm not sure if other people noticed it, but more and more they are portraying Prentiss as this "I want to have a baby" character. It's like in Catching Out when she asked Reid "If he wanted to have baby geniuses" I think that there may be a man on the horizon. I'm still hoping it's NOT Reid, but we'll see eh? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think Cal Tech was where Reid went to graduate school. The article that mentioned it was written after Reid graduated from college and it mentioned him considering Cal Tech. So, still not sure where he went as an undergrad. And, Reid will not be any man on the horizon for Prentiss. Or anyone else. And, no one else on the team will be involved with anyone else on the team. No inter-team romances. Not gonna happen. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

In the scene where Garcia tells Reid what she dug up about his dad (the scene where she said she "gives good phone") she mentions that deadbeat daddy collected every online article he could find about Reid and they showed some on screen. And, I was wrong (I think), it seems Reid did go to Cal Tech for college as an undergrad. And, Reid was being a jerk at times (but I kind of like that they allow his character to have flaws and be a tough prickly thing, sometimes good, sometimes not -especially since it didn't get to Elephant's Memory levels, which went beyond my comfort zone). But, since I don't have much sympathy for the louse of a dad, I can't really be annoyed for Reid's attitude with dear old papa. The thing that got me was how he was with his mother, when he was trying to get her to remember. Or, more likely influence her memories. That was a bit manipulative and creepy, Reid. The way he jumped on the "poor Riley" part and his tone just a little too silky. "That's right, Mom. Poor Riley. Pooor Riley." And, then he asks if his dad had something to do with it, and when Diana says no, he changes to suggesting "you knew about Dad and you didn't do anything." Not asking her, telling her. Just freaky. Reid, use those techniques on unsubs, not your mentally ill mother. Not only is it creepy, but the most you're likely to do is cause a freak out. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
