After rewatching this episode, it just reinforces that Prentiss is a great character. While I liked Elle, I had no problem with Prentiss coming onboard when they wrote the character of Elle off. Prentiss read the scene well and took all the heat off Reid being a suspect. She handled the beating and herself very well. I'm wondering how well Reid would have handled it? While his strength is words and the mind, I'm not sure he could have handled this beating and himself well afterwards. Unless the unsub "kicked like a girl." ;)

See, I think Reid could've handled being beaten (he's put up with it before, as a kid, with Hotch, and with Tobias), but I think if Cyrus had decided he was the agent, Cyrus would've just shot him. They knew Cyrus had a thing for women - he took his frustrations out on Prentiss instead of just shooting her as he almost did with Reid. Plus, Reid needed to be the one to talk Cyrus down and gain his trust. Prentiss giving herself up was the only good shot they had at both of them making it out alive, though Reid beat himself up for allowing it.

Reid could've taken it but Prentiss knew Cyrus' character and made a judgment call. I think that Reid most likely would have been shot. Prentiss played to Cyrus' strengths and weaknesses. I just wish Reid wouldn't feel so bad, it was the way they both handled the situation that allowed them to make it out of there alive. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well Reid is taking it so hard (Prentiss being beaten) because he fully knows that Cyrus KNEW that he was the agent. He was fully prepared to say that he was with that gun pointed at him. He was nonplussed when Prentiss stepped up and said that she was. Reid knew that Prentiss threw her life away for him. Reid was blaming himself for not being strong enough to step up and say to take him instead of Prentiss.Yeah I felt so horrible for Emily. She had to just take the beaten that Cyrus dissed out. But she did to protect Reid and all the women and children in that church. But I was happy that Morgan shot Cyrus in the end. I would have hated the fact that Cyrus would be able to remain alive at the end. This was a disturbing episode but it was also the best one of the entire series. Ranks right up with "Revelations" in my book. Great, great, great bonding episode for Reid and Prentiss. Their bond is now so solid and deep - that nothing can tear them apart again. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I agree too though, I mean Prentiss did it too protect Reid, and in this episode he and Prentiss got too bond but in "Revalations" It was Reid and JJ!Im a shipper for JJ/Rossi weird enough but still i think JJ/Reid should be together. Do you find this valuable? |

I was just point out that my faviote epsiode had been "Revelations" because it was such a beatiful eppy for both Reid and JJ. I didn't mean to imply that Reid and Prentiss had bonded in that epsiode. (Not by a long shot)."Minimal Loss" too me is truly the first epsiode that Reid has finally finally accepted Emily into his 'family' and put his past anger (or perhaps mistrust) behind him. Reid has abandoment issues ... first his father - than Elle - than Gideon. I mean Emily just got some blacklash from Reid over his issue. But in "Miminal Loss" I finally got the sense that Reid has finally accepted her in his life. I'm the major shipper of JJ/Reid, Emily/Hotch. Sorry about confusing you with my first comment. Oh Ok, I get what you mean now.Yeah i agree, Reid has abandoment issues, Gideon was hardest. And Elle he didnt like that either. And he probably felt like if i trust her like a trusted them is she going to leave me but this time he didnt try with her but this episode did feel like he actually let her in and made her something too him. I'm major shipper's of 2 JJ's,,, JJ/Reid and JJ/Rossi. I also agree with Emily/Hotch. And thats ok. Brianna. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah I absoutly loved "Minimal Loss" for the whole Reid and Emily interaction. They have the whole brother and sister thing groove going on. They always had it since Prentiss's first day on the job. When Prentiss leaned over to shake Reid's hand across the table; I knew that she had all ready considered Reid as a major part of her life. Like a kid brother. Paget B. played that emotion so well since she joined the show. Although Emily never really shows that much of true emotions - but Paget is such a wonderful actress that you can just read it in her eyes.I'm glad that Reid is finally ready to give back the feelings that Prentiss had been showing him for years now. Awww I love these two. I hope the writers write even more scenes for them next season. I wished the writers showed more of Reid's inner emotions in the beginning of season three. Like in "Name and Blood" when Emily got hit in the head by Joe Smith; and she was seriously injured. I wanted to see if Reid would be debating with himself to go to Emily in private and try to gadge her emotion state. (Like he did for Elle in season two. Remember when Elle was drinking vodka. I forget the epsiode). But they never allowed that. What a shame. They just showed Reid's hurt and anger towards Emily. So I was so happy with "Minimal Loss" and it was Reid and Emily alone together in that church. That they had to trust each other to have one another's backs. Just have them able to work alone together. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Alright I know this is several months after the fact and into the season where we lost AJ and could very well loose Paget but I have been rewatching several of my personal favorite episodes and this is one of them. When seeing this episode you see how they are simply working together as if this is just another case, another interview but when it devolves into the stand off they click into profiler mode. But the thing that really gets me is the trust that continues to grow between these characters. It had an evident place in Season 3 episode 16 Elephants Memory when if you pay attention to when Reid approaches Owen he blocks the shot Morgan, Hotch and Rossi all have. The trust shown in that episode was that Reid trusted Emily not to shoot, he asked her to trust him. She did and so when it comes down to who Cyrus attacks in this episode I found it fitting that Emily spoke up. To me it is showing her strength knowing what could happen, she took the risk that she could be killed trusting that Reid would still solve the situation. Also when she is about to be rescued she wanted to stay and get Reid out it was only once Morgan told her he would get him out that she left. She trusts him but their time in that situation created a closer bond, one I wish could be seen more. In the end I really think a big thing this entire episode and almost all of the other ones is quite simply trust. Trust that the people you work with on a daily basis have your back no matter how dangerous things get. They have each others back. I do admit I love the connection that can be seen between Reid and Emily but in the end my enjoyment of that ship doesn't beat the love I have of the examples of trust shown.
