Reid's secret
Oct 9 2010, 9:17 AM EDT | Post edited: Oct 9 2010, 9:17 AM EDT
I just read that Spencer's secret this year (season 6) will be that his paranoid schizophrenia will appear. I hope not. I wanted him to finally get a girlfriend and be happy. That means that MGG will prabably not last past this year. What' do you think? 32  out of 57 found this valuable. Do you?

No! No, no,no, they can't do that! Ohhhhh... please don't do that. Seriously, if they cut of Reid I will end up watching re-runs all the time. They can't do that. They can't! But they have announced that JJ and Prentiss will be leaving, so it might not be true.

Aw, I really hope it's not true. CBS sucks even more than it does for cutting of JJ and Prentiss if they shall cut of Reid as well.

They can't cut Reid, I don't think they will, I mean its bad enough they cut JJ and Emily, cutting Reid would be absurd. His secret's got something to do with his genetic past, I don't think he's got schizophrenia, that would be too easy because its everyone's 1st guess. Maybe he's adopted or something ? :P 11  out of 15 found this valuable. Do you?

From what I've heard they said Reid's secret will be "a doozy" and that it is "BIG" and related to his "genetic past". They also said they were thinking of giving him a love interest but not to count on that being his secret.
Personally I think making him schizo would ruin the show. It would be too sad for the character & there is no way he could stay in the FBI with a mental illness no matter how well controlled it was.
Maybe his secret will have to do with the death of his Uncle Daniel (his mother mentioned Reid going to his funeral in "The Instincts"). It's possible there is some genetic disorder which causes physical illness-- which might explain why Reid suddenly felt ill in JJ's last episode. Although it could just be that he's lactose intolerant.
In order for it to be "big" it would have to impact the team somehow-- so being adopted wouldn't really cut it. Maybe he's a blood relative of a serial killer or something.. But even that wouldn't cut it.
The schizo thing would really just be too predictable, obvious, and stupid.

Suddenly I was less scared. But I agree, If they give him the same mental illness as his mom it would be completely absurd with everything else that's going on with JJ and Prentiss leaving. And cutting of three major characters is no good idea for any TV show.

I think your right. I just hope we get some really good, solid Reid episodes this season. Its been long overdue.
Do you guys think giving him a love interest will work? They tried to do with with Morgan a couple of time with Tamara Barnes and Jordan, but it didn't really get anywhere. Reid, too, didn't get very far with the actress and bartender. Will she be a one episode thing like those 2?!

Me again. He could be a hemophiliac (spelling) or have gotten AIDS when the doctor put his hands on Reid's leg when he got shot. That wouln't be a genetic past incident, though. Or, during the Anthrax scare, maybe something triggered a reaction that wasn't know about at the time. I wondered about him getting sick on the plane. Nothing else was said about it. man, I just hope it's a gentic thing like bein related to Adonis! (ha ha) 7  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

What I'm worried about is that the current writers seem so sloppy (they have huge plot holes that make you wonder why the cases weren't solved sooner or just have characters acting out of character or behaving unrealistically)... and if they think that it would be ok to give Reid schizophrenia for drama that they wouldn't be able to properly follow through and it might ruin the show. Realistically the FBI would never allow someone in his position to stay if it turned out he was mentally ill. His perceptions would not only be deemed unreliable by the FBI, but by his team as well. He wouldn't be a valid witness for things and he couldn't even trust himself. It would ruin the whole eidetic memory thing.
Another concern is that they might use it as an excuse to change his personality or have him behave inconsistently (they could just decide to have Reid do something he normally wouldn't do bc it would be ok now that hes' crazy). Or they would have the schizophrenia for a few episodes and then forget about it for a long time only to have it brought up again.
Or they might start it and then realize they don't know how to follow up on it and end up ruining his character completely or booting him bc they don't know what to do with him anymore. Or instead of booting, he might just be sent to the background like he was in most of season 5.
As cruel as it sounds, I'd rather his ailment be physical bc at least with that he could keep his job. Bc if they gave him a physical ailment, chances are it would be cured or forgotten about within a few episodes and wouldn't be as hard to believe as mental illness.

Another thought I had is that maybe what the writers consider to be "big" is not what I would consider big or important... 9  out of 11 found this valuable. Do you?

What happened to Reid in JJ's last episode? Like, how did he get sick? Was he just feeling sick, or did he actually throw up. I live in Australia, so I haven't seen any of S6 yet. 3  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

This might be a bit spoilery for those who havent seen the episode so don't readif you don't want to know.

In the episode 'JJ'. JJ is in the airplane washroom, Reid knocks on the door. JJ answers, He asks her if she is alright. She says yes and looking concerned asks him the same question. He tells her he is feeling sick and pushes past her into the washroom.
There is also another clue he is not well when earliar in the episode Prentiss scolds him after he grabs apparently more antacid medication off her desk.
Hope that didn't spoil anything for anyone.

Early on in the episode he reached for a bottle of antacids and Prentiss said (in an exasperated tone) "Again with the dairy?" and Reid said "I can't help it, I love dairy!" and then started eating antacids as if they were candy. Later on the plane JJ was crying in the bathroom. Reid knocked & when she opened the door he asked if she was ok and then told her he felt a little sick. She left the bathroom so he could go in and while Reid was in the bathroom, JJ then told the rest of the team about her offer for a transfer. When Reid came out he was wiping his mouth. Some took that to mean he threw up.

I know there used to be some websites where you could view the new episodes online. I don't remember any urls right now though. My ISP has a limit on how much I can download so I can't go downloading episodes and movies. Do you find this valuable?

People like mggspam and lightsxmusic on Tumblr have posted images of Reid reaching for the antacids. I assume it was Emily's desk because she was sitting in the chair and he was sitting on the desk. He sits on so many tables he's lucky he hasn't landed on a tack yet.
I'll see if I can dig up a picture later.

Ok, here's a picture of Reid's hand reaching for the antacids on Emily's desk. I assume it's Emily's since she was in the chair and he was sitting on the desk.

I deffinitly don't think it will be about his "schoziphrenic" tendencies. It would ruin him, and he has too large of a fan base for the writers to be THAT stupid. At the most, he might officially be diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrom. I hope not, as it would probably bother Reid, but thats all i can think of honestly. I am very excited for a love interest though! Im sure it will be a fantastic season, but if they cut off Matthew Gray Gubler... someones going to get hurt. Follow me on twitter! :D
