I miss Gideon

Yes,i miss Gideon too...i like Rossi but i think it would've been nice if Gideon's still there..Gideon's role is remarkable and Mandy Patinkin did a great job portraying the role of Jason Gideon...But,Criminal Minds is really a great show as always... ^_____^ 36 out of 44 found this valuable. He was one of the best things on the show. I almost stopped watching after he left. Surprisingly, I have watched every episode since - the quotes alone are worth the watch - and of course it is a thrill to see the determination of good-guys/gals being able to eventually outsmart the insane tenacity of evil. Guess I can relate as a psychotherapist - the work can be draining and lead to a heavy heart, but like the show, friendship/camaraderie in the high value & pursuit of truth and justice, brings it's unique & special rewards. Also, folks say I remind them of Dr. Reid.

Mandy found the roll to be very difficult to endure. I've heard, he is the kind of actor where the subject matter of the show was effecting him in an adverse way. He is truly missed, but Joe has done an incredible job as well. He made an almost seamless transition possible.

That might happen this season. On the Twitter page for CM, they said that he will return in the season 7 finale! The reference is on Gideon's article on Wikipedia if you want to check it out. It'd be nice to see him again!

Gideon was a very good character ,but rossi does his job just as well. I think the reason why people like him so much is Reaid. Gideon was Rieds mane friend they played chess all the time before and after cases. I do think it whould be nice for a supprise visit.

Read somewhere that MP really objected to the levels of violence in the show and stormed out with very little notice.....so I'm guessing he might not come back even for a one-off episode??!!! Can see his point - some of the episodes were a bit violent.... Do you find this valuable? |

Agreed. He was amazing. The team is still good and good at their job, and the show is still good, (after all, it's about the 'minds' involved) but I think both are feeling the loss of the great soul that held it all together. Reid? Awh ;) I identify with Hotch (even before the wave of personal tragedy that made every emo teen instantly identify with him.) My best friend is so much like Gideon. She went through the same kind of emotional burnout, but she's coming back around. I hope at some point, Gideon does too. Do you find this valuable? |

I loved MP as Gideon and the first two seasons but I've become a Rossi man and I think the show and the chemistry of the characters has gotten better with him on the show rather than Gideon. It's become much more ensemble centric rather than the main focus on just one character. Of course, my wife thinks I'm crazy and we constantly argue over who is better, kinda like the Van Halen vs. Van Hagger debate (I like DLR but fall in the Van Hagger camp). Hotch is my overall fav but I think it would be cool to see Gideon interacting with the team again. Hate the fact Paget is leaving, I've loved her ever since she started, again, show won't be the same. Regardless, I watch CM every day and probably will till the day I die.
